OPTICAL BRIGHTENER

Optical brighteners or fluorescent whitening agent are used to make plastics, fibers, coatings, inks, and detergents appear whiter and brighter. These products function by absorbing invisible ultraviolet light and re-emitting it as visible light in the blue range of the spectrum.

ANTIOXIDANT

Under the effects of shear stress and mechanical loading in an oxygen environment, plastics and elastomers are generally degraded and age rapidly. This is translated by a loss of mechanical properties like strength, stiffness or flexibility and a discoloration, yellowing or loss of gloss of the plastic. Antioxidants are used to fight this degradation and extend plastics' lifetime. Antioxidants protect the polymer from heat and oxygen ageing.

1 ANTIOXIDANT 225 It is a synergistic blend of antioxidant 168 and antioxidant 1010 which is a processing and long-term thermal stabilizer system. It is used in polyolefin and olefin-copolymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers. The blend can also be used in other polymers such as engineering plastics, styrene homo-and copolymers, polyurethanes, elastomers, adhesives, and other organic substrates.
2 ANTIOXIDANT 1076 Antioxidant 1076, is a sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant, is highly efficient, non-discoloring stabilizer for organic substrates such as plastics, synthetic fibers, elastomers, adhesives, waxes, oils and fats. It protects these substrates against thermo-oxidative degradation.
3 ANTIOXIDANT 168 It is a hydrolytically stable phosphite processing stabilizer as a secondary antioxidant. It comprises poly-olefins and olefin-copolymers such as polyethylene (e.g. HDPE, LLDPE), polypropylene, polybutene and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers as well as polycarbonates and polyamides. The blends can also be used in polyesters, styrene homo- and copolymers, adhesives and natural and synthetic tackifier resins, elastomers such as BR, SEBS, SBS, and other organic substrates. The amount to be used may be 0.1%-0.5%
4 ANTIOXIDANT 1010 It is a sterically hindered phenolic antioxidant – is a highly effective, non-discoloring stabilizer for organic substrates such as plastics, synthetic fibers, elastomers, adhesives, waxes, oils, polyacetals, polyamides and polyurethanes, polyesters, PVC, styrene and copolymers, ABS, elastomers such as butyl rubber (IIR), SBS, SEBS, EPM and EPDM as well as other synthetic rubbers, adhesives, natural and synthetic tackifier resins, and other organic substrates. It protects these substrates against thermo-oxidative degradation.
5 ANTIOXIDANT 545 545 is effective in styrene polymers, particularly impact modified polystyrenes, ABS, MBS, SB and SBR-latices as well as in POM homo- and copolymers. It is also very useful for the stabilization of polyurethanes, polyamides, thermoplastic polyesters, PVC and other polymers. While it also serves as end stopper of chain in PVC polymerization. In addition, the product has no effect on polymer reactions. When used for HIPS and PVC, it can be added into monomers before polymerization. The amount to be used may be 0.05%~0.5%.

Both thermoset and thermoplastic may use special materials which are added to prevent loss of gloss, crazing, chalking, and discoloration, changes in electrical characteristics, embrittlement and disintegration due to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Additives, which protect the product by absorbing the UV, are called ultraviolet absorbers. Materials, which protect the polymer in some other manner, are known as ultraviolet stabilizers. In the event that a non-gel coated resin will be exposed to sunlight, the addition of a UV stabilizer will slow the surface degradation.

1 UV 81 UV 81 is an ultraviolet light absorber (UVA) of the benzophenone class, imparting good light stability when used in combination with a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS). It shows good compatibility with polyolefins and polystyrene, polyester and polyamide etc too. The maximal absorbing wavelength range is 300-375nm.The general consumption is 0.2-0.6%.
2 UV 1084 UV-Absorber 1084 is a Nickel Quencher type UV absorber for polyolefins. It gives UV protection on pesticide and acid Resistant. 3 UV 944 UV 944 is suitable for those application which demand particularly high stability for such polymers as PP, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, ABS and PVC. It is FDA-cleared for use in food packaging applications including PP and PE with maximum concentration of 0.3%.In contrast to UV Absorber, its effectiveness is independent of the polymer’s thickness. So, it is particularly effective in articles with high specific surface such as coating, fiber, films and tapes.
4 UV 622 UV 622 is the light stabilizer of oligomer structure with high molecular weight. It gives low volatility and minimal migration, Furthermore it is effective as antioxidant and contributes significantly to the long-term heat stability of polyolefins and polyurethane, meta-formaldehyde, polyamine and polyester, also in ABS and engineering plastics.
5 UV 783 UV-783 is a synergistic mixture of UV- 944 and UV-622. It is a versatile UV stabilizer with outstanding extraction resistance, low gas fading and low pigment interaction. UV-783 is particularly well suited for LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE films, tapes and thick sections and for PP in fibers and films. It is also the product of choice for thick sections where indirect food contact approval is required.
6 UV 770 UV- 770 is a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) for applications demanding particularly high light stability. It provides excellent light stability for thick sections but can also be used for articles with a high surface area such as films and tapes. It comprises with PE, polypropylene, impact modified PP (TPO), EPDM, polystyrene, impact poystyrene, ABS, SAN, ASA and polyurethanes and is also effective in polyamides and polyacetals.
7 UV 907 UV 907 is suitable for those applications which demand particularly high stability for such polymers as PP, PE. Used in greenhouse film, mulch film, twine and other agricultural applications. It is new type hindered amine light stabilized.

It is used extensively in color concentrates as a dispersion aid. It is used to improve processing of the styrenics and polyesters, and to a lesser extent with the olefins. In rubber applications, it functions as an elastomer processing aid and release agent.
